Posted by Admin as

Rice crispy treats is a popular diet for preschoolers as well as adults. It can be cut in to squares or rounds or in any other shape one likes and can be served in any function and there is no special time to make rice crispy treat.

Instructions

1.  Before starting to make rice crispy treats, gather everything that is necessary such as chocolate, six cups of crispy rice cereals, quarter cup butter, half teaspoon vanilla extract and one cup of white chocolate. Take a 13x9x2 inch pan and spray it with cooking spray and set aside.

2.  Now take the butter in a large saucepan and melt it at low heat. Mix the melted butter with marshmallows and heat in low flame with continuous stirring till all the marshmallows get melted. One can also melt butter and marshmallows in microwave in a microwave safe bowl. While heating the marshmallow care should be taken to avoid burning as it burns easily.

3.  Remove the sauce pan from the flame and mix the butter marshmallow mixture with rice crisps, cereals and combine them well with a butter coated spatula to avoid sticking and till all the cereals gets coated completely.

4.  For flavor one can add vanilla essence and white chocolate along with the cereals. Even half cup of peanut butter can be used to add flavor to the rice crispy treat. Dried cranberries, chocolate chips, raisins, nuts etc can also be mixed with cereals to improve the rice crisp.

5.  With the help of buttered spatula press the cereals mixture on the prepared pan and care should be taken to cover all the edges and sides. Instead of greasing the pan one can also line parchment paper on the pan. Allow the mixture to cool down and set and it takes about 20 minutes. Spreading chocolate frosting and marshmallow fluff over the cooled cereal mixture helps to make it different and special treat. Then cut in to two inch squares or any other shape using a pizza cutter.

6.  Store the rice crispy treats in an airtight container and serve in one or two days. Otherwise store it in the refrigerator in layers separated with waxed paper for up to six weeks. If margarine is used instead of butter then you will get softer rice crispy treats.
